Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product
When deciding my target market I wanted to choose a market that would give me the most valuable experience in real life. This would have to be highly popular with a large present customer base. That is why I decided targeting my magazine for the following audience:

  • Demographics - Female 16-24
  • Job title - In full or part time education, university or apprenticeship
  • Economic Status - High amount of disposable income, likely living with parents or with friends in a flat.
  • Psychological group - Mainstreamers & Aspirers
Interests & Opinions
Through research both on-line and off-line I aimed my magazine towards people who thought of themselves as self proclaimed fashion & music savvy; not necessarily experts however, as my magazine presents itself with high street brands and retailers instead of designer brands. Often interested in popular stereotyping hobbies such as photography & art whilst going out on weekends and evenings.

Although they are interested in fashion and music, their tastes have not been fully developed. Therefore making advertising to them a lot simpler as a magazine which contains similar styles rather than developing a magazine that would be very broad in order to accommodate all the different and specific tastes. This is a perfect balance of being concious of their appearance but not so concious that the magazine doesn't seem intimidating & upper class.

Common brands & bands:

  • Topshop & River Island - or any high street equivalent.
  • Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry - Typically most tracks in the charts at that moment.
  • ASOS - or any on-line shopping equivalent.
  • Vivienne Westwood - Any notable designer brands, if it isn't popular it's unlikely to be bought.
  • Charity shops - For the popular 'vintage' look.
  • Kooks, Mumm-ra - Indie bands are a must! Bonus points if from an indie movie.

Stereotype views
My audience would often be seen in mostly high street clothing, along with 1 or 2 items either from a charity shop; a new trend of 2010 & 2011; or from a designer label. Accessories would often be essential. On a more 3-D view, they would be seen at a party socialising but not making a scene, on the high street during their free hours with a close group of friends, at a club or bar - regardless of age, or on their computer on a social network or blogging service. Popular choices are Facebook & Tumblr.
It isn't uncommon for my audience to have a part-time job which is on minimum wage. This is the main source of their disposable income, unless they were brought up into a wealthy family but that edges away from my target audience.
